David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown reunite for a Netflix spy series, and this time they are running it as executive producers
After a decade on Stranger Things, David Harbour reckons reuniting with Millie Bobby Brown for a Netflix spy drama was natural — and he teases what’s driving them.
If you thought the Stranger Things saga would be the last you saw of David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown together, Netflix has other plans for you. These two clearly aren’t through with each other yet — in fact, their next act comes with a dash of espionage and the added bonus of shouting matches that don’t involve Demogorgons. Their next project together is an untitled Netflix spy series that puts them both front and centre, and not just as cast but pulling the strings behind the scenes as well.
‘I go anywhere in the world and people know the relationship of Hopper and Eleven. There’s something about that I thought was so special.’
This Time, It’s Espionage
The new show turns the page on Hawkins and drops us into the world of FBI drama. Here, Harbour plays a disgraced FBI agent dragged back to active duty when his estranged daughter — played by Brown — disappears during an operation of her own. No more bikes and Christmas lights: we’re off to gunfights and missing persons.

Speaking at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, Harbour explained, ‘It really is a working relationship, where we love what we bring out in each other. You’re in service of a greater story, and we both know how to do that and think about that and talk about that.’
More than just nostalgia, Harbour made it clear this isn’t about cashing in on Eleven and Hopper’s history. The two have developed a way of working together that’s genuinely productive, not just for the cameras but apparently for the writers’ room as well. ‘I love what we have together and I love to be able to see her on a daily basis,’ Harbour added — so, yes, fans can expect their chemistry to stick around but in a brand new setting.
Who Else Is Involved?
Both actors are executive producing — proof, if any were needed, that Netflix trusts them with its increasingly expensive IP. Even better, Jake Bongiovi (Millie Bobby Brown’s husband, by the way) is also on board as an executive producer. The script comes from Jack Thorne, who already teamed with Brown on the Enola Holmes films and has the added weight of an Emmy win for Adolescence.

Harbour mentioned that the show’s direction keeps surprising even the people making it. Apparently, two scripts are already locked, and he’s feeling ‘very, very proud’ of how it’s shaping up. So if you’re one of those who thought they’d seen the last of this particular duo after Stranger Things closed up shop, best think again.
