Godzilla x Kong 2027 Sequel: Supernova Star Finally Breaks Silence
As Godzilla x Kong: Supernova powers through production, Dan Stevens confirms his return as Trapper Beasley and drops rare hints about the 2027 sequel — a scarce tease for hungry Monsterverse fans.
It looks like the Monsterverse is far from done stomping around our theaters. Dan Stevens—yep, the guy who played Trapper Beasley in 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire'—has decided to spill a few beans about his return in the next big one, 'Godzilla x Kong: Supernova.' The official word is out: the next chapter is well underway, and Stevens is, predictably, hyped.
So What Did Dan Stevens Actually Say?
Most actors talking about blockbuster sequels usually keep things vague, but Stevens did throw the monster fans a little bone. When asked about jumping back into the Trapper Beasley role, he said:
"I’m delighted to be back. Trapper is such a fun character, and I really enjoyed bringing him back. This next one is gonna be out of this world. It’s everything you love and more."
So, Hollywood translation: expect more mayhem, bigger scale, and apparently, more fun. Not exactly spoiler material—but hey, at least he seems genuinely enthusiastic.
What’s Actually Going On With The Sequel?
For those not keeping score, 'Supernova' is the next big event in Legendary’s ever-expanding Monsterverse. Warner Bros. and Legendary made things official earlier in 2025 with yet another dramatic production announcement video, confirming both the title and that cameras are rolling.
From what’s out there so far, expect a fresh set of human faces thrown into the chaos alongside our main monsters, Godzilla and Kong. The plot? Everyone’s favorite world-endangering threat is coming back, because of course it is.
Who’s Actually In This Thing?
- Dan Stevens (obviously, as Trapper Beasley)
- Kaitlyn Dever
- Jack O'Connell
- Delroy Lindo
- Matthew Modine
- Alycia Debnam-Carey
- Sam Neill
The script comes from Dave Callaham (the guy who’s apparently written half of Hollywood’s action blockbusters lately), and Grant Sputore is in the director’s chair.
Release Date? Mark Your Calendars. But Not Anytime Soon.
If you’re itching to see radioactive lizard vs. giant monkey round three, you’ll have to wait. 'Godzilla x Kong: Supernova' is set to hit theaters on March 26, 2027. So yes, plenty of time to rewatch the past films or argue on Reddit about which kaiju would actually win.
Will 'Supernova' deliver on the 'out of this world' hype? We’ll just have to see if post-apocalyptic monster carnage can get any more over-the-top. Judging by this franchise’s track record, I wouldn’t bet against it.
