The Gaslight District cast: who voices the Smiling Dead
Glitch Productions' undead crime family is played by voices most viewers have already heard somewhere else. Here is who performs each member of the Smiling Dead in The Gaslight District pilot.
Glitch's pilot pulled three million views overnight and has since passed ten million. A good chunk of that audience spent the following week saying "I know that voice."
They almost certainly did. The Gaslight District, created by Nick Szopko — better known online as PartTimeSeagull — went up free on YouTube on 18 April 2025, runs about 27 minutes, and is set on an island of cursed immortals where a gang called the Smiling Dead handle the crime. Seven performers are credited on the pilot, and between them they cover Murder Drones, The Amazing Digital Circus, ULTRAKILL and Netflix's Transformers.
The Smiling Dead, member by member
- Melancholy "Mel" Hill — Allanah Fitzgerald — the gang's adopted daughter, the last human alive, and the subject of an inconvenient prophecy. Fitzgerald voiced Cyn and the Absolute Solver in Murder Drones, so Glitch has now cast her as the end of the world twice.
- Ken the Butcher — Jason Marnocha — gang leader and Mel's adoptive father. Marnocha played Megatron across Netflix's Transformers: War for Cybertron trilogy.
- Mud — John Whinfield — Ken's brother, a mass of green melting matter who serves as the gang's sniper. Whinfield also voices Jack.
- Breadhead — Gianni Matragrano — Ken's dim son, a yeast golem. Matragrano is Gabriel in ULTRAKILL, which is a considerable tonal distance to travel.
Fitzgerald had been holding the news for a long time before the cast reveal in March 2025.
"I am so so SO STOKED to announce that I voice Melancholy Hill in the new show: The Gaslight District! I have been sitting on this for a few years now," she posted on X.
The voices on the other side
The pilot's antagonists are the Virtues, and Glitch went to its regulars again. Michael Kovach plays Diligence, the Virtue leader — he is N in Murder Drones and Jax in The Amazing Digital Circus, making Gaslight his third Glitch series. Belsheber Rusape Jr plays Temperance, the Virtue doctor. Taher Chy narrates. Further down the call sheet, Margaret Ashley voices the Angel Mother and Max Palardy plays Joshua.

Why the cast list looks so familiar
Glitch has effectively built a repertory company. The Parramatta studio, founded in 2017 by brothers Kevin and Luke Lerdwichagul, went from 20–25 staff to more than 100 after The Amazing Digital Circus pilot landed in 2023, and employs roughly 250 people as of 2026. Its YouTube channel sits at 23.2 million subscribers and 3.8 billion views. When a new show needs casting, the studio reaches for people it has already worked with.
Is there more of it coming?
Season 1 is in production, with no date announced.
Glitch has called The Gaslight District one of the most ambitious projects it has ever taken on — which, from a studio that put a clown-populated digital purgatory on Netflix, is saying something.
For the record: Szopko developed the world alone from 2022, and Glitch only picked it up in November 2023. Fitzgerald was cast years before the pilot went live, and had to sit on it the entire time.
