Fallout Creators Tease Season 2 Surprises and Alien Hints
Fallout’s second series is set to outdo its predecessor, with Todd Howard and Aaron Moten sharing behind-the-scenes details about the show’s intricate sets and hidden references—plus a possible nod to extraterrestrial visitors.
The first run of Fallout left viewers impressed by its meticulous attention to detail, from the authentic Pip-Boys crafted for the cast to the immersive environments that brought the wasteland to life. Now, as anticipation builds for the next instalment, those behind the scenes are promising even more elaborate set pieces and subtle nods for eagle-eyed fans.
Set Design That Goes the Extra Mile
When asked about the most memorable aspects of the production, Bethesda’s Todd Howard pointed to a particular location familiar to many.
“For me, it's the store in Freeside,”
he remarked, referencing the bustling hub that players of New Vegas will instantly recognise.
“You walk in the store and they're selling all the little doodads and ammo and Stimpaks. They just built everything, I was browsing the store for real. Like, wow: You just built all of this stuff because it might be in frame.”
The sheer effort put into constructing these spaces, even for fleeting moments on screen, speaks volumes about the team’s commitment to authenticity.
Hidden Gems and a Hint of the Unusual
Aaron Moten, returning as Maximus, shared his own experience of being awestruck by the set’s intricacies.
“One of the biggest wow moments was the warehouse the Brotherhood gets into and the things that were inside there. At one point, I was going round the set, pulling things out and being like, 'Can we get this on camera?' It was so amazing. The detail, it's remarkable – the alien in the fridge, that one's a good one.”
His mention of an extraterrestrial tucked away among the props drew a swift response from Howard:
“No spoilers,”
perhaps suggesting that a well-kept secret had just slipped out.
Aliens in the Wasteland?
Long-time followers of the franchise will be well aware of the Zetans, the mysterious beings who have made appearances in several games, most notably in the Mothership Zeta expansion. While it’s unlikely that viewers will see these visitors mingling with the show’s main characters, the suggestion is clear: the new series will be peppered with references and surprises that reward those who pay close attention.
What Lies Ahead
The next chapter of Fallout arrives on Prime Video on 17 December, promising a fresh batch of secrets and set pieces for fans to pore over. For those keen to keep track, details about the timeline and release schedule are already available. As the countdown continues, the question remains: which upcoming television series are you most eager to see in 2026?
