The Evil Dead universe is set to grow once more, with a fresh instalment on the way. Acclaimed director Francis Galluppi will helm the project, featuring a cast of familiar faces.

There’s no slowing down for the Evil Dead saga. Although Evil Dead Burn is still half a year away from hitting the big screen, the powers that be at New Line Cinema and Sony Pictures have already given the nod to another entry in the cult horror series. This time, Francis Galluppi, a filmmaker based in Los Angeles, has been chosen to both pen and direct the next chapter. His appointment follows the impressive box office run of Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise, which managed to rake in a tidy $147 million worldwide back in 2023.

Fans of the genre will spot a few familiar faces among the cast. Charlotte Hope, known for her role in The Nun, is set to appear, as is Ella Newton from Dangerous Animals. Zach Gilford, a regular collaborator of Mike Flanagan, also joins the line-up. The supporting cast is rounded out by Jessica McNamee, who audiences may remember from Mortal Kombat, Josh Helman of Mad Max: Fury Road fame, Ella Oliphant, and Elizabeth Cullen, who featured in The Last Anniversary.

Behind the Scenes and What to Expect

Lee Cronin, who directed the previous instalment, will be on board as a producer, working alongside Rob Tapert, Romel Adam, Jose Cañas, Sam Raimi, and Bruce Campbell. Campbell, of course, is synonymous with the franchise, having played Ash Williams, the original protagonist. As for the plot, details remain tightly under wraps. Still, it’s a fair bet that the story will involve a group of unsuspecting souls stumbling upon a version of the Necronomicon, unwittingly unleashing a horde of Kandarian demons and finding themselves up against the franchise’s trademark Deadites.

While the finer points of the narrative are being kept secret, the creative team’s involvement suggests the new film will stay true to the series’ roots, blending supernatural horror with a healthy dose of mayhem. The anticipation is already building, even as the previous film’s release is still on the horizon.

Looking Ahead: Evil Dead Burn and Beyond

Before audiences get a glimpse of Galluppi’s vision, there’s still Evil Dead Burn to look forward to. Directed by Sébastien Vaniček, this upcoming entry is scheduled for release on 24 July. The cast includes Souheila Yacoub, Luciane Buchanan, Tandi Wright, George Pullar, and Hunter Doohan, who is known for his role in Wednesday.

Vaniček has made no secret of his intentions for the film.

“I told the studio that I wanted to make a nasty film, a film that hurts, from which you come away tested,”

he previously remarked.

“I’m going to put all the horror I have inside, it will be cathartic, and if I haven’t ruined my career and I can continue to make films behind it, I will move on to something other than horror!”

With two new instalments on the horizon and a cast packed with talent, the Evil Dead franchise shows no sign of losing its bite. Fans of the macabre have plenty to look forward to in the coming months.
