Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney says she broke down after reading Cassie Howard’s Season 3 finale fate, opening up about the moment she first saw how Cassie’s story ends.

Euphoria fans, it is officially the end of the line. Sydney Sweeney—who basically turned Cassie Howard into television’s most chaotic trainwreck—has shared just how hard the final curtain hit her. HBO dropped a behind-the-scenes special for the series finale, and Sweeney got properly emotional revisiting Cassie’s fate.

How It All Went Down

So, let’s get you up to speed. The last episode, 'In God We Trust', aired on Sunday 31 May, and it was not short on drama. Before the credits even rolled, Cassie’s husband Nate Jacobs was dead thanks to a snake bite—yes, really, out of all the ways to go out on Euphoria, this one felt surprisingly zoological. The upshot? Cassie’s alone in a mansion meant for two, with bills piling up and not a single reliable friend in sight.

In what can only be described as a bold (or, frankly, quite desperate) pivot, Cassie and Maddy Perez hatch a scheme: OnlyFans, but make it a shared business. They’ll rent out bedrooms in Cassie’s newly half-empty house to other models. Think influencer commune, but with more tears and less furniture. Cassie even tries to rope in her sister Lexi, but Lexi’s got enough going on without adding this to her CV, cheers.

Sydney Sweeney on Reading Cassie’s Ending

Sweeney’s reaction, as she tells it on HBO Max’s post-show featurette:

'I broke down when I read Cassie’s ending.'

You can see why. By this point, Cassie’s story has whiplashed from suburban newlywed to weepy ring-light entrepreneur in eight bruising episodes. The finale lingers on her, teary-eyed and lost, which is probably the most relatable Cassie’s ever been.

The Dynamic Duo Returns?

Show creator Sam Levinson didn’t mince words describing Cassie and Maddy’s dynamic for the final stretch. He called it the season’s real 'love story', saying:

'They’ve been through so much together. All they really got is each other and a whole bunch of debt.'

Not exactly the aspirational friendship arc, but compared to the rest of Euphoria, borderline wholesome.

Sweeney’s Goodbye

Sweeney also posted a set of behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram—wedding shots, strip club chaos, the whole wild ride—and captioned it, rather dryly:

'It’s called... acting.'

Nice to see she’s got a sense of humour about it.

Final Wrap: Euphoria’s Done

HBO has pulled the plug: after three seasons and one especially snake-infested climax, that’s officially it for Euphoria. Levinson himself has confirmed it, so there’s no hoping for an unexpected return.

  • 'In God We Trust' finale aired 31 May
  • Nate Jacobs dead via snake bite in episode 7 (the penultimate)
  • Cassie & Maddy join forces on OnlyFans business
  • Lexi declines to take part in the entrepreneurial experiment
  • Sweeney posts Instagram farewell: 'It’s called... acting.'
  • HBO confirms no more Euphoria beyond season 3

All three series are up on HBO Max for anyone who feels like reliving the meltdown.
