After an Emmy nod, Peacock is renewing one of its most popular shows for Season 9 — but which fan favourite is getting the encore?

Peacock is sticking to its summer hit formula: Love Island USA is officially coming back for a ninth season. If you had money on this show fizzling out anytime soon, you might want a word with your bookie, because the show's found its stride—not just with viewers, but with Emmy voters as well.

Love Island USA's eighth season racked up almost 19 billion viewing minutes, making it Peacock's most-watched original series ever.

Ariana Madix: Host With The Most

The hype isn't slowing down. Ariana Madix, who landed an Emmy nomination for her hosting stint, is set to return yet again. She'll share reunion duties alongside Andy Cohen when the Season 8 Reunion Special streams on Monday, 31 August, at 9pm ET/6pm PT. It's not all talk and no trousers: she's back for the main game next season, too.

Why Peacock Loves This Island

Let's talk numbers—because frankly, they're massive. During a binge-worthy six-week stretch (from 2 June to 13 July), Season 8 dropped 35 episodes—enough to keep even the most dedicated sofa warmers occupied. In that short window, Love Island USA became the platform's single biggest original to date, clocking a colossal 19 billion minutes watched, according to Peacock's own brag sheet.

What's more surprising is just how many of those eager viewers are brand new faces. Reports put it around 35%—over a third of people tuning in for Season 8 had never bothered with previous Love Islands, either British or domestic. Not a bad trick for a show this deep into its run.

And it's not just old-fashioned TV viewers. Phones and tablets drove a massive chunk of those numbers, with Love Island USA reportedly topping all Peacock offerings for mobile usage. The official Love Island USA and Peacock apps even hit Number 1 on the App Store during the season's run. For reference, the show's app—which lets you vote, obviously—saw a whopping 85% jump in users, and engagement (i.e., people tapping to keep their favourites in the villa) was up by a solid 35% versus last time out.

Nielsen named Love Island USA's eighth season the most-watched streaming series of summer 2026.

The social media effect? Off the chart. TikTok and Instagram nearly melted down with all the clips, memes, and live reactions. So, yes, the show not only dominates streaming, but now practically owns entire summers for the mobile and social crowd too.
