Elizabeth Hurley never married Hugh Grant or Shane Warne — she said yes to Billy Ray Cyrus
His third marriage, to Firerose, ended in a divorce and annulment filing after seven months. Of the two of them, Hurley is the one taking the risk.
Billy Ray Cyrus and Elizabeth Hurley are engaged, Page Six reported on 16 October 2026, citing sources close to the couple. Neither of them has confirmed it, and neither really needed to. On Monday 12 October Hurley posted a mirror selfie in a white bathrobe from her first day filming the second series of The 'Burbs, with a large diamond on her left ring finger. On Thursday Cyrus dropped a ring emoji into an Instagram caption. A source told Page Six: "She's filming The 'Burbs; I hardly think this ring is a prop."
He is 65, she is 61. If the wedding goes ahead, it will be his fourth marriage and her second.
The men who never got her down the aisle
The interesting part is Hurley's own history, because the most famous men in her life got close to a wedding and stopped there:
- Hugh Grant (1987–2000): they met in Madrid filming Rowing with the Wind and stayed together for 13 years, through his 1995 arrest in Los Angeles and the tabloid circus that followed. No wedding.
- Arun Nayar (2007–2011): the one husband. They married in March 2007, she announced the split in December 2010, and the divorce was finalised in 2011.
- Shane Warne (2011–2013): the cricketer proposed months after her divorce. The engagement was called off in December 2013, with both blaming busy schedules.
So the woman who spent 13 years beside the star of Four Weddings and a Funeral without having one of her own, and who called off an engagement to Australia's most famous cricketer, has now said yes to the man behind Achy Breaky Heart.

The groom's record
Cyrus's marriages have a habit of not holding. His first, to Cindy Smith, ran from 1986 to 1991. The second, to Tish Cyrus, gave us Miley and lasted 28 years, until Tish filed for divorce in April 2022. The third is the one Hurley will certainly have read about. He married the singer Firerose on 10 October 2023, and on 22 May 2024 he filed in Tennessee for divorce, citing "inappropriate marital conduct", and asked for an annulment on the grounds of fraud. He would not have married her, the filing said, "had he known". Seven months, start to finish.
Of the two of them, he is not the one taking the risk.
Cyrus loses nothing from a fourth engagement: the whirlwind weddings are already part of the package. Hurley is the one gambling, and she seems to know it. She didn't wait for a statement, a publicist or a magazine cover. She put the ring on Instagram herself, from a film set, in a bathrobe, four days before anyone reported a proposal. That isn't a woman being swept along. That's a choice, made with his record in plain view.

From a Caribbean set to a Tennessee farm
They met in 2022 on Christmas in Paradise, a festive film with Kelsey Grammer, and went public on Easter Sunday 2025 with a photo of Cyrus in bunny ears kissing her cheek. He later told Apple Music's Ty Bentli that Hurley texted him after filming, knowing he was going through a rough patch, and offered friendship:
"If all we ever were [is] the friends that we are, I would take that."
— Billy Ray Cyrus, on The Ty Bentli Show
Hurley's own verdict, in May 2025, was shorter: "We're happy together." She has also said his farm in Tennessee feels a lot like hers in Gloucestershire, which is a cheeky way of saying she isn't moving for anyone.
No date, venue or ceremony has been announced, and neither camp has commented. Hurley is busy on The 'Burbs, and Cyrus is busy posting emojis. On his record, the honeymoon is the easy bit. It's month eight she should plan for.
