EastEnders: what happened to Jordan? The full timeline, starting at Vicki and Ross's wedding

If you've come back to EastEnders and found the Fox-Trueman family in pieces, the answer traces to a single night in June 2026 — the evening of Vicki and Ross's wedding. Here's the whole sequence, in order.

The wedding, and the reversing car

'The Night That Changes Everything' ran from Monday 1 June 2026: four episodes, all set across one night. Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) and Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw) made it down the aisle despite the Zack affair and a blackmail plot in the run-up — but the night belonged to what happened outside the marquee.

Four-year-old Jordan Fox ran off from the reception after his mum Chelsea shouted at him. At the same moment, Ian Beale — freshly voted in as Councillor Beale, with a tipsy Kathy fiddling with the car stereo — reversed out of his parking space, felt a crunch, decided it was the bins, and drove off. It wasn't the bins. Jordan was left lying unresponsive by them.

The night unravels

• The search — Chelsea and Josh went looking for Jordan; Josh found him unconscious but breathing, and called an ambulance while Peter gave first aid.
• The knock on Ian's door — police arrived at the Beales' within hours, breathalysed Ian, found him over the drink-driving limit, and took him to the station.
• Denise's phone — Jordan's grandmother Denise had spent the same night processing a blood cancer diagnosis. Mid-conversation with Yolande, her phone rang twice: first the hospital about her own treatment, then Jack, with the news about Jordan.

"They cannot do that to Jordan on the same night Denise finds out," went one typical fan reaction quoted by TV Guide after the iPlayer drop.

The hospital verdict

Doctors found spinal injuries and operated urgently, while Chelsea lashed out at Josh, who'd been minding the children. Days later, at Kim and Howie's engagement party of all places, Chelsea was told Jordan might never walk again. With Denise facing a month in hospital for treatment, Chelsea called her sister Libby back to Walford — which opened its own can of worms, as Libby learned that Gray's grandmother Sheila had been sending cheques for Jordan that Chelsea never cashed, and contacted her.

Chelsea and Ian, for their part, avoided the expected showdown: when Ian visited with a teddy and chocolates, the two agreed the accident had more than one author.

Why the name rings a bell

Long-time viewers know Walford has been here before. Chelsea named her son after her half-brother Jordan Johnson — Lucas's boy, who found his own mother's body in 2009 and, as Lucas revealed in 2021, later died of a heroin overdose. Jordan Fox's father, meanwhile, is the serial killer Gray Atkins, in prison since 2022. The kid was carrying a heavy surname before he could spell it.
