With Insidious: Out of the Further in cinemas 21 August via Sony Pictures, fans are eyeing when Insidious 6 lands at home — digitally first, then streaming.

If you're still keeping count, Insidious: Out of the Further is number six in the never-ending horror franchise, and yes – it’s heading to cinemas this August. Typical Sony, they're still playing coy with the streaming dates, but we can make a pretty solid guess at what happens next.

Insidious 6 lands in UK cinemas 21 August 2026; digital likely follows in late September.

The Release Shuffle

Sony Pictures are distributing this one, and unless they decide to go completely rogue, Insidious 6 should follow the usual studio release pattern. You tend to get a 30 to 45-day gap between a film's theatrical debut and its digital availability. For this one, that puts the download-and-scary-movie-night window neatly in late September or the first days of October. Nothing confirmed, of course, but don’t be surprised if it pops up between 20 September and 5 October. Expect an official date… eventually.

As for actual streaming subscriptions (the bit you’re probably waiting for), Netflix seems to have this wrapped up under its global deal with Sony. For their past horror fare, you're looking at about three months on, so think late November 2026 for a Netflix premiere. Obviously, that could shift, but for now, November is your best bet.

Who’s Behind It?

Taking up the directorial reins this time is Jacob Chase, who also co-writes with David Leslie Johnson. Horror mainstays Jason Blum, Oren Peli, James Wan, and Leigh Whannell are all in on the producing side, so, yes, it's the same hit-parade of names you’d expect. No massive left-turns on the creative team.

The Cast & First Reactions

  • Amelia Eve is leading things this time round
  • Island Austin, Sam Spruell, Brandon Perea, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, and Laura Gordon round out the cast
  • Lin Shaye is back as Elise Rainier – for those who care about franchise continuity

Not that these numbers ever really stop Insidious fans, but for what it’s worth, critics have already handed out a 67% score on Rotten Tomatoes in the run-up to release. The usual: cinema release first, digital sprint a few weeks later, and Netflix by year’s end if you’d rather not pay twice.
