Disney+ has quietly dropped a Mandalorian and Grogu companion series that is actually a podcast
Dave Filoni’s Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu lands on Disney+ today — and with it comes a surprise companion series digging into how it was made.
If you woke up this morning raring for more Star Wars oddities, there’s something new beaming into homes today. Fresh off the hype from The Mandalorian and Grogu film, Disney+ has dropped a TV companion piece – though, fair warning, 'TV show' is stretching it a bit. This one’s actually a podcast, but with the telltale big-budget set dressing and star appearances, it’s hardly your standard audio-only fare.
The Mandalorian and Grogu Official Podcast brings fans two episodes packed with insider chat between Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, cast members, and even Grogu himself, all filmed right on the movie’s original Adelphi Base Bar set.
The hosts here are the brains behind the operation: Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni – you know, the lads steering this corner of the galaxy. They’re joined by Pedro Pascal (helmet on, presumably), Sigourney Weaver (in what’s still a surreal bit of casting), composer Ludwig Göransson, and an appearance from Grogu that’s probably more expressive than half the human guests.

Officially titled Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu Official Podcast, this show was literally filmed amongst the sticky floors and questionable lighting of the film’s Adelphi Base Bar set. It’s split into two handy episodes, ‘Growing Up’ and ‘Bigger & Different’, which, frankly, sum up both Grogu and current Star Wars strategy.
What are you actually getting? It’s a pretty in-depth dive into making the film, from puppetry (Filoni’s pet obsession) to the practical wizardry behind Grogu himself. Favreau and Filoni chat about where the film fits in the broader Star Wars mythos (your mileage may vary), and the cast chip in with set anecdotes and stories about working with the full-sized, scene-stealing puppet. The original The Mandalorian and Grogu movie hit cinemas on 22nd May 2026. Critics couldn’t quite agree on its place in the saga – it’s landed on 60% with reviewers over at Rotten Tomatoes, though audiences are far more taken (86% on the so-called Popcornmeter). As for the money, it’s chalked up over $345 million worldwide on a production budget of $165 million, so no signs of the Star Wars cash machine slowing just yet.
