Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning’s Paramount+ legal thriller has added Zazie Beetz and Ben Foster
Nicole Kidman’s new Paramount+ series has added more A-listers to its cast — with one particularly familiar face among the fresh signings.
Bit of an update for you on Discretion, the new Paramount+ legal thriller that already had quite the star-powered cast — and now, it seems, they've managed to nab a few more heavy-hitters. The show's not out until 2027 (yes, you read that right — we’re talking a fair wait), but the ensemble's shaping up as one of those lineups that's basically a flex in itself.
Who’s New in Town?
The latest batch of actors confirmed includes Zazie Beetz (Domino in Deadpool 2, but you probably know her as Van from Atlanta), Ben Foster (Hell or High Water, The Mechanic), Stella Baker (Scarpetta, Tell Me Your Secrets), and John Hoogenakker (he was the Bud Light King, for better or worse, but he’s done proper telly like Jack Ryan and Dopesick). Paramount+ is keeping a tight lid on who they're all actually playing – just says they're recurring, so, some relevance but not leading the charge.
Discretion lands on Paramount+ in 2027 with Nicole Kidman at the helm.
If you’ve not been tracking this one, the lineup already included Nicole Kidman (obviously), Elle Fanning, Josh Lucas, Colton Ryan, and Stephan James. So, getting crowded at the top of the call sheet.
So, What’s Discretion Actually About?
The basic pitch: it’s adapted from a Chandler Baker story (she’s a bestselling author and a former corporate lawyer) and the series is written by Baker herself, who’s also exec producing. At the centre, you've got a young lawyer, Lenny, who stumbles across something properly dodgy involving non-disclosure agreements while temping as a summer associate in a big Dallas law firm. Cue sudden shift from working your way up to bloody well fighting for your life — at least, that’s how these things tend to go. The main tension’s between Lenny and Sharon, the mentor figure who's apparently sitting on secrets of her own. If you enjoy shows where work-life balance involves someone trying to destroy you, you’ll probably be happy.
Unlike the new additions (whose roles are being treated like state secrets), the leads have proper job titles already: Kidman plays Sharon, Fanning is Lenny, Lucas takes on Greg, Ryan’s Boone, and James is Logan. That list is probably meaningful if you’ve read the original story, but at this stage it’s more tarot cards than clarity.
Behind the Curtain
Loads of producers in the mix here: alongside Kidman, you’ve got Susannah Grant, Per Saari, both Fanning sisters, and more. Matt Shakman (who's been jumping between TV and Marvel films) is directing the first four out of eight episodes. Filming is still ongoing, so we're a way off from any trailers or sneak peeks — never mind an airdate you could mark on a wall calendar.
