There's more focus in this story on human connection than even the eventual and hopeful connection between an off-world civilization and the human species.'

So, less about who can dodge laser beams, more about who’s willing to talk to their neighbour, even if it turns out their neighbour is from Alpha Centauri. There will be action, obviously – it's Spielberg, not some art house knock-off – but the real heart of the film sits with the emotional fallout and the question of what makes us human in the first place.
