Digger streaming and digital release date: when Tom Cruise’s new film is likely to reach HBO Max
Fancy Digger at home — Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s satirical black comedy with Tom Cruise is heading to digital and streaming, and here’s when to expect it.
Let’s talk about Digger, the latest satirical black comedy from Alejandro G. Iñárritu, starring none other than Tom Cruise as a self-important bloke convinced he’s humanity’s last hope—until he accidentally unleashes the sort of catastrophe only Cruise could scramble to contain. No shortage of end-of-the-world ticking clocks here. The film’s just hit cinemas, but naturally everyone’s already asking: when can they watch it from the sofa?

Digger hits UK cinemas on 2 October, but home releases are still a little while off.
The digital schedule: What to expect
If you’re eyeing a digital release, studios like Warner Bros. (who are backing Digger) typically work with a 30 to 45-day window between the film’s big screen debut and arrival on premium rental platforms—think the likes of Sky Store, Amazon, that sort of thing. Sometimes, for whatever reason, they drag it out a bit longer. Case in point: Warner’s recent release The Bride! launched in London on 26 February 2026, then in the US on 6 March, eventually turning up on PVOD (that’s Premium Video on Demand, if you’re keeping score) by 7 April—a shade over a month after the theatrical release across the pond.

Streaming plans: HBO Max and beyond
Now, streaming’s the next logical step. Going by recent patterns, Warner usually holds out for about two to four months before letting films loose on subscription streamers. Digger is odds-on to land on HBO Max after a spell on paid rental. For further evidence, The Bride! eventually hit streaming on 23 May, more than two months after it was rentable. You’re looking at a similar gap here: if you’re waiting for the all-in subscription and not just digital rental, you’ll likely be twiddling your thumbs till close to Christmas, or even later if Warner decides to stretch things out.
- Digger theatrical release: 2 October 2026
- PVOD/digital rental: likely November or December, depending on studio’s whims
- Streaming (HBO Max expected): after two-plus months, but possibly longer
- Past Warner titles: The Bride! took 30+ days for digital, 60+ days for streaming
As of now, it’s only in cinemas—so if you’re desperate to see Tom Cruise try (again) to save the world, the big screen’s still your only option for a while.
