Pattinson’s The Odyssey Role – and That Twilight Déjà Vu
Pattinson’s part in The Odyssey is Antinous, one of the main blokes trying to persuade Penelope (played by Anne Hathaway) that her husband, Odysseus (Matt Damon), is probably a lost cause and it’s time to move on. Antinous is one of those suitors angling for a shot at both Penelope’s hand and the throne, all while Odysseus is thought to be long-gone after the Trojan War.
Chatting to MTV UK, Pattinson had a laugh and admitted that Antinous is 'kind of like Jacob in Twilight.' His reasoning? Well, he reckons Antinous spends the story basically telling Penelope, 'It’s fine. He’s dead, get over it.' To be fair, I can see the connection—another awkward position as a hopeful rival, but on the opposite side this time.
