Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 just upped the body count—an HBO’s The Last of Us star is joining as a chilling new serial killer, setting up a brutal cat-and-mouse with Michael C. Hall’s Dexter Morgan.

If you thought Dexter had already run into every type of deranged killer known to telly, think again. The second season of 'Dexter: Resurrection' is apparently upping the body count and then some—this time by nicking a notable face from HBO's 'The Last of Us' and turning him loose as a brand-new villain. Yes, looks like Michael C. Hall's still got his hands full as Dexter Morgan, and we're not straying too far from the classic cat-and-mouse tension.

New Blood in Town: Who's Joining?

Gabriel Luna is the latest addition to the cast, and if you've seen him as Tommy in 'The Last of Us', you know the bloke can hold his own in a tense scene. Luna's been cast as a mysterious serial killer called 'The Sleepy-Eyed Stranger'. Not the most reassuring of names, is it? So far, Showtime are keeping tight-lipped about his character's background, but let's be honest, in the Dexter universe, the less you know up front, the more you end up regretting it.

The Line-up: Old Names, Fresh Faces

Luna joins a genuinely stacked line-up for the upcoming season. Here’s who’s turning up (or returning):

  • Brian Cox, set to play 'The New York Ripper'—the sort of casting that makes you wonder if Dexter should consider early retirement
  • Dan Stevens, back as 'The Five Borough Killer', so clearly we're not running short of themed murderers
  • Uma Thurman, reprising her role as Charley
  • Bokeem Woodbine turning up as Capt. Mixon
  • Nona Parker Johnson as Fiona Mixon
  • Krysten Ritter, coming in for a guest spot—but no word yet on what sort of trouble she’s bringing with her

If variety is what you want in serial killing, looks like season 2's got you covered.

Gabriel Luna's Track Record

Luna's CV is already pretty action-heavy: besides his stint on 'The Last of Us', he played the relentless Rev-9 in 'Terminator: Dark Fate' and did a turn as Ghost Rider in Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Now he's bringing those same intense vibes to the Dexter playground. You can't fault them for casting someone with proper villain credentials.

Where Are We Picking Up?

'Dexter: Resurrection' is still headed up by Clyde Phillips—yes, the Emmy-nominated guy who's got a bit of form for these things. This time round, the storyline kicks off with Dexter waking up from a coma (because of course he does), then heading to New York in search of Harrison to patch things up. Things go sideways, naturally, when Miami Metro's Angel Batista shows up chasing old ghosts. You can pretty much guarantee Dexter's not getting an easy ride.

Paramount Television and Counterpart Studios are behind the production, with Michael C. Hall wearing his usual double hat as both star and exec producer—along with Phillips and the rest of the behind-the-scenes crew.

Where (and When) to Watch

First season's already streaming over on Paramount+, but you’ll need the Premium plan to get in. As for season 2, it’s all set to drop around October 2026—mark your calendars if you’re the forward-planning type.
