Fifteen years after Two and a Half Men fired him, Charlie Sheen is back with its writers — and his dad Martin
Charlie Sheen has a new family sitcom on the way — and it’ll put him back before a live audience for the first time in 12 years.
Here we go then: Charlie Sheen is dusting off his sitcom chops and heading back to TV land, this time roping in his actual dad, Martin Sheen, for a brand new multi-camera family comedy. Yes, you read that right — Charlie Sheen, in front of a live studio audience, for the first time in more than a decade. If that alone does not pique your curiosity, I’m not sure what will.
Happy Jack is AMC’s first attempt at a classic multi-camera sitcom format.
The Sheens Step Onto the Studio Floor
The show’s called Happy Jack, and AMC Global Media has given it a six-episode order. Production’s set to start early next year in Los Angeles, with the premiere down for 2027 on AMC and AMC+. Just to make it a bit more Hollywood, filming takes place at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, right on the same soundstage where Friends used to shoot. AMC, of all places, is trying its hand at old-school, laugh-track sitcoms for the first time — not what you’d call their usual territory.
Plot-wise, Charlie’s playing Jack Chambers, a bloke who’s turned a booze brand bearing his name into the family business. His more sensible daughter keeps him on the straight and narrow as his business partner, while his other daughter fancies herself as a musician. Trouble starts when the younger daughter pops home and, just for laughs, announces she’s marrying a fella old enough to be Jack’s contemporary. Add family drama to professional headaches, and you’ve got the set-up. Martin Sheen’s in as Jack’s on-screen dad, making this a proper Sheen family effort.

Who’s Pulling the Strings?
There’s proper sitcom pedigree behind the camera, too. Jim Patterson and Matt Ross—both alumni of Two and a Half Men—are steering the ship. In fact, several producers from the same show are back on deck, including Eric and Kim Tannenbaum. Charlie Sheen himself is listed as an executive producer, alongside Todd Christopher and Jason Wang. So, a bit of a reunion for the Two and a Half Men brains, only on a different stage and network.
Sheen doesn’t seem to have lost his knack for hype either. Here’s what he said in a statement about coming back to telly:
‘The crew has reassembled – suffice it to say, it’s time to give the people what they want.’
Martin Sheen’s already chatted about the series with his son on his podcast; Charlie’s called Happy Jack a proper family sitcom, for whatever that’s worth. It’s certainly the first time the pair have teamed up for a show like this, though they’ve crossed paths on screen before.
AMC’s planning to bring Happy Jack to buyers at MIPCOM in Cannes this October, well ahead of its 2027 US debut. So, there’s still a healthy wait before anyone actually sees Charlie back behind a bar (and in front of a camera) in sitcom land.
