Avengers: Doomsday drops first official trailer — doom is coming to the MCU

Well, it took Marvel long enough. We’ve finally got an actual trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, and it’s about as dramatic as you’d expect. Let’s be honest, the franchise has been suspiciously quiet since Endgame wrapped things up (or so we thought). They’ve been drip-feeding us cast rumours and concept art leaks for months, but now there’s proper footage to argue about.

So what are we actually seeing? For starters, it’s got all the big money effects you’d want, with shots of the team fighting chaos in cities you can barely recognise after the usual VFX overload. Marvel’s clearly gone out of their way to avoid spoiling who lives and dies this time — everyone’s looking a bit paranoid in the footage, which, fair enough when a villain called Doom is in town.

And yes, Doom himself is our main villain. Honestly, it’s about time. Marvel’s been circling Doctor Doom for what feels like forever, and it looks as though they’re finally ready to let him wreck the Avengers’ day. There’s only the briefest glimpse of him in the trailer — shadowy figure, imposing voice, major threats, you know the drill. I suppose Marvel wants us speculating (again) about who’s under the mask. Everyone online will be arguing about it from now until release, obviously.

If you’re wondering about the rest of the cast: most of the core Avengers are back in action, with the usual suspects doing their best to look world-weary. There’s also a surprisingly decent amount of screen time for some long-neglected characters Marvel fans have been whining about for ages. Crowd-pleaser, or just ticking the boxes? Take your pick.

Marvel’s keeping the actual plot tightly guarded, but the trailer does have a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it shot of an Avengers team-up that looks absolutely massive, both in terms of cast and whatever threat they’re facing. If the trailer’s any indication, Doomsday is leaning hard into its name — catastrophic stakes, or at least a load of stuff blowing up again.

One thing that jumps out is the general atmosphere: everything’s moodier than usual, with a lot of doom and gloom (no pun intended). Nobody’s cracking jokes here — in fact, the usual Marvel quippage seems almost totally absent, at least in what they’re showing. Whether that’s just clever editing or a new, slightly grimmer vibe, we’ll see.

For now, the trailer’s doing what Marvel does best: teasing fans, setting up months of speculation, and probably hiding several cameos and twists we won’t spot until the film drops. So, if you fancy watching heroes run headlong into certain disaster yet again, you can finally set your calendar. Doctor Doom is officially here, and it looks like he’s not messing about.
