Avengers heavyweights Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth just reunited in a fresh promo for Avengers: Doomsday. The 2026 tentpole comes from directors Anthony and Joe Russo, with a script by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely.

Marvel decided to kick up the anticipation machine for Avengers: Doomsday at Bilibili World, and if you wanted the original Avenger trio back together, here you go—sort of. Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., and Chris Hemsworth all popped up (as themselves, not in costume) for a special 32-second promo, and considering the characters' fates and casting changes, it’s quite a sight for MCU obsessives.

Not Quite the Avengers You Remember

So, to clarify, in Doomsday it’s no longer Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor as you might picture them from 2012. Evans’ Cap hung up the shield ages ago—Anthony Mackie is Sam Wilson now, officially wearing the stars and stripes. Downey Jr.? He’s back in the MCU, but this time taking on Doctor Doom, the iconic villain, not Tony Stark. Hemsworth, for now, is still Thor, which, frankly, is the most straightforward casting of the lot.

The Promo: Short, Sweet, and a Bit Surreal

The video itself is very much a set-friendly hello to Chinese Marvel fans at Bilibili World. The three actors aren’t in character, just grinning on a presumably busy set, but here’s what went down:

  • Downey Jr. opens: "Hello, Bilibili World. We are taking a quick break from the set of Avengers: Doomsday and wanted to say hello to you all lovely People."
  • Evans follows: "Doomsday is coming, and the stakes have never been higher. Witnessing how much you love this universe and these characters keeps us going."
  • Hemsworth chips in: "Like our collective boss and friend Kevin [Feige] will soon tell you, we're working hard to make this the most epic movie yet."
  • Downey again: "We love you, Bilibili. We love you, China. Stay awesome."
  • And all three close out with: "See you soon."

In true Marvel promotional style, it’s more a thank-you card than a spoiler minefield, but seeing these three together—especially with the character shakeups—is a bit of a trip.

The Cast & What’s at Stake

Avengers: Doomsday is being steered by Anthony and Joe Russo, who absolutely love an ensemble line-up, from a script by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely. Alongside the trio, you’ve got Pedro Pascal turning up as Reed Richards, Paul Rudd back as Ant-Man, Florence Pugh rocking up as Yelena Belova, Patrick Stewart wheeled in as Professor X, and Hannah John-Kamen reprising Ghost. The film drops in the US on 17 December, 2027.
