Arnold Schwarzenegger and Liam Hemsworth Unite in The Kellys, Prime Video's Next Big Bet
Prime Video is developing The Kellys, a new movie that pairs Arnold Schwarzenegger with Liam Hemsworth in a heavyweight team-up.
If you thought Arnold Schwarzenegger might finally hang up his action boots for a quiet life, you clearly haven’t been watching the man in recent years. Despite the whole ‘governing California’ detour (seven years, by the way), Arnie keeps coming back for more – most recently in Netflix’s 'FUBAR', and let’s not forget his returns in the 2015 and 2019 'Terminator' outings. But if you dig a bit deeper, you’ll remember he also dropped in (literally) as a hulking cameo in the original 'Expendables', later showing up for the sequels alongside just about every other ageing action legend you could name. That included Liam Hemsworth, who – back in the 'Expendables 2' days – was pretty much “Chris Hemsworth’s younger brother” to the wider world.
Well, turns out Arnie and Liam are lining up for a rematch on screen, and this time it's set to be much more than a blink-and-you'll-miss-it team-up.
The Kellys: Arnie & Liam, Round Two
The next film to bring the two together is called 'The Kellys', and Amazon MGM Studios has just snapped up the rights. When it eventually lands, it’ll be a Prime Video exclusive. No news yet on exactly when production is kicking off, let alone when we'll get to stream it.
What's the Plot?
The story follows a New York City cop – classic Arnold territory – but this time, it’s a guy named Jack Kelly who’s “disgraced” (we don’t know what for). Jack’s wife, Molly, winds up held hostage by terrorists, and the whole siege goes down inside an old armory somewhere in the city. The twist: to save her, Jack has to team up with ‘the people he fears most’ – namely, his own family.
Who's Steering This Thing?
Directing duties go to Brad Peyton. If the name rings a bell, it’s because he’s the bloke behind 'San Andreas' and 'Rampage' – both of which involved Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson outrunning CGI carnage and very questionable geology, so clearly Peyton knows his way round a big, silly action setup.
Meanwhile, the script comes courtesy of Tze Chun, whose previous work includes the TV series 'Gotham' and 'Once Upon a Time'.

The rest of the cast is still under wraps, so there’s every chance we get some more old-school action faces turning up for this one.
For now, the main draw is actually Arnie and Hemsworth squaring off again, considering last time in 'The Expendables 2', they barely shared a scene. This new flick is expected to double down on both of them in the thick of the mayhem together.
Amazon MGM Studios has not announced a production or release date for 'The Kellys' at this time.
