Apple TV's Stick Season Season 2 Starring Owen Wilson Just Got a Release Date Update
Stick Season 2 just got a fresh release-date update. Creator Jason Keller says production is moving ahead on Owen Wilson’s Apple TV golf comedy, which broke out after its summer 2025 debut and earned a quick renewal while season one was still airing.
Right, if you were hoping for an update on that surprisingly sharp Apple TV+ golf comedy, 'Stick', starring Owen Wilson – you're in luck. There's finally some real news about where things stand for Season 2, and honestly, after the way they left it hanging last year, it's about time someone said something.
Filming wrapped, post-production in full swing
Jason Keller, the show's creator and showrunner, has come out and said it plainly: the entire second season has already wrapped filming. They're currently knee-deep in post-production, chipping away at all the editing, sound, and whatever other TV wizardry happens after the cameras stop rolling. So, if you'd been picturing Owen Wilson wandering about some golf course as we speak, you can stop – all that's in the can now.
The one thing we still don’t have? An actual release date. Even Keller, who you'd think would be at least in the WhatsApp group for these decisions, says Apple TV+ hasn't handed over an official date. He told Deadline –
'We’re done with production. I’m deep into post-production now. We’re hoping that the show will release sooner rather than later.'
So, not wildly specific, but it’s better than radio silence.
What’s the hold-up, and when’s it coming out?
Based on everything we know, a 2026 release is practically nailed on at this point. They could aim for the same late-summer slot as last time, especially since that seemed to work for them, but genuinely – when the showrunner himself hasn't even been told the official date – autumn 2026 is looking a lot more realistic.
In their defence, post-production does take ages, especially with comedy. And considering Apple TV+ is not exactly known for being lightning fast when it comes to schedules, a bit of a wait shouldn’t be too surprising.
Cast: Who’s back (and who’s new)?
- Owen Wilson returns, obviously, as washed-up-turned-reluctant golf mentor Pryce Cahill
- Peter Dager (prodigy Santi), Timothy Olyphant, Marc Maron, Judy Greer, Mariana Treviño, and Lilli Kay are all back as well
- There’s also a crop of new names joining in for Season 2: Missi Pyle, Billy Zane, Rex Linn, and John Higgins
One thing they have given away about the plot: after that cliffhanger swing at the end of Series 1, Pryce isn’t just sticking to teaching. He’s heading back to compete on the golf circuit himself – slightly barmy, but exactly what most fans wanted.
What’s next?
Still nothing official from Apple TV+ as far as a premiere date, and no sign they're in any rush to lock one in, either. The show finished filming, they've moved on to the editing, and the main cast (plus a few new faces) are all locked in ready to go. It's just a case of waiting for Apple to decide when we actually get to see it.
