Alien: Earth Season 2 Finally Locks Filming Start — Here’s When Cameras Roll
After missing its May kickoff, Alien: Earth Season 2 is finally heading into filming in London, ending weeks of guesswork. The FX series from creator Noah Hawley, with Ridley Scott backing, remains one of FX’s most closely watched projects.
If you’ve been wondering when we’ll finally see Alien: Earth Season 2 start churning out footage, you’re not alone. The past few months have been a bit of a waiting game, with barely any scraps of info about when the cameras would start rolling. The production had already missed its rumoured May kick-off date, which at this point feels like ancient history in TV time.
Alien: Earth Season 2 – Cameras (Finally) Ready To Roll
The Alien: Earth series, if you’re not familiar, is that big-budget FX project created by Noah Hawley, with Ridley Scott’s blessing, set in the same grim universe as the classic sci-fi films. Season 2 got the official nod quite a while ago, but solid details have been hard to pin down. Thankfully, we've now got confirmation straight from someone actually walking onto set.
Adarsh Gourav Spills the Beans
Actor Adarsh Gourav, who plays 'Slightly' in the show, broke the silence in an interview with CineBuster. He said he’s heading to London during the first week of June – a fairly substantial clue – and filming is set to start not long after he touches down.
Here’s how he put it:
'I’ll be leaving for the international schedule in the first week of June, and we begin filming shortly after. There’s a huge sense of anticipation around this season where the storytelling becomes even more ambitious.'
So it seems everything’s pretty much lined up, after a very low-key pre-production phase. In other words: prepare for some proper filming news coming out of London any minute now.
Production Delays & A Bit of Confusion
Worth noting: Sydney Chandler, who leads the cast as Wendy, had told Deadline back in March that shooting was meant to begin in May (which clearly didn’t happen). She also mentioned at the time she hadn’t seen any scripts, so it’s safe to assume the writing was still underway well into the spring. No shade, but the production schedule has been slippery at best.
Cast and the London Shift
- Adarsh Gourav ('Slightly') – confirmed for S2
- Sydney Chandler ('Wendy') – main lead, returning
- Peter Dinklage – involved in S1, expected back
- Timothy Olyphant – likewise, likely returning
Gourav’s especially keen to be reunited with this lineup, telling CineBuster: 'Working with actors like Peter Dinklage, Timothy Olyphant, and the entire ensemble pushes you creatively every single day.' Officially, FX haven’t put out a full cast list for Season 2, but if your character wasn’t killed off last time, it’s probably safe to pencil them in.
Here’s an interesting twist for the location nerds: after shooting the first season in Thailand, production is packing up and moving to good old London. They’ll be filming at Pinewood Studios, which is basically hallowed ground for the Alien franchise – lots of history there if you care about that sort of thing.
Release Date? You’ll Be Waiting A While
Still no official premiere date from FX. With filming only now getting underway, don’t expect anything on your screen before mid-to-late 2027 at the very earliest.
