Alan Ritchson is about to own Hollywood with 4 major releases in two months
Alan Ritchson is staging a late-summer blitz, dropping four major projects across theaters and streaming in just a few weeks. He’s headlining two action films and jumping back into his hit action series, with releases rolling out from late July through mid-September.
Alan Ritchson is about to be everywhere – and I mean, genuinely unavoidable, whether it’s telly or the big screen. Over the next couple of months, he’s got two films and two TV shows arriving almost back-to-back, which feels... a bit much even for someone who roams around breaking bad guys’ arms for fun.
Ritchson’s Busy Calendar (July–September)
- Motor City (in cinemas 24 July): Ritchson leads as John Miller, a Detroit factory worker getting stitched up by a local crime boss. If you’re expecting reams of monologue, don’t: Ben Foster (who’s also in it) reckons this film is “virtually silent”. Instead, you’re getting a lot of action sequences and a rock-heavy soundtrack, so it’s more about fists and guitars than conversations. Shailene Woodley, Pablo Schreiber, and Foster round out the cast. Potsy Ponciroli directs, and the film had its world premiere at Venice in 2025, so it’s been gestating for a bit.
- Reacher Season 4 (Prime Video, 12 August): Ritchson returns as the most physically intimidating man with a travel toothbrush collection. This series adapts Lee Child’s Gone Tomorrow, kicking things off with a mysterious – and fairly bleak – subway suicide that drags Reacher into all sorts of terrorist and government dodginess. He’s confirmed that it’s packed to the rafters with fight scenes. Maria Sten is back as Neagley, and this time we’re getting some new faces too: Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette and Sydelle Noel.
- Runner (in cinemas 11 September): This one sounds delightfully bonkers. Ritchson is Hank Malone, a former soldier forced to deliver a life-saving organ across the city, with only three hours to get it there, all while dodging criminals who want the precious cargo for themselves. You’ve got Owen Wilson and Rodrigo Santoro along for the ride, which is frankly a pairing I did not see coming. Scott Waugh directs.
- Neagley (Prime Video, 16 September): Here’s your spin-off. Frances Neagley (played by Maria Sten) investigates her mate’s suspicious death in Chicago. Ritchson pops in as Reacher, but this one’s very much Neagley’s game. So if you like the understated, quietly menacing sidekick vibes, this is your series.
Quick reminder, in case anyone still only knows him as Jack Reacher: Ritchson’s been knocking about for years, with credits in Blue Mountain State, Titans, Fast X, and Guy Ritchie’s Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Just to add even more to his plate, he’s also reuniting with Arnold Schwarzenegger for The Man with the Bag later in the year.
As for why there’s such a ridiculous glut of Alan Ritchson projects all at once? Go ask his agent. But if you like your action leads massive and unironically sincere, you’re going to be well-fed.
