Two weeks after its record-breaking debut, Acorn TV has already renewed You’re Killing Me, the Brooke Shields–led murder mystery, for Season 2, with the news dropping at ATX Television Festival.

Well, here’s a bit of a shocker from the world of cosy crime dramas: Acorn TV has wasted absolutely no time locking in a second season for You’re Killing Me—and frankly, the speed of it says a lot. The show only dropped on 18 May, but that was more than enough to break all the streamer’s records for both signups and viewing. Apparently, Acorn TV’s never had a series launch pull in so many new punters or rack up so many eyeballs this quickly.

The Big Announcement

The renewal news landed during a panel at the ATX Television Festival on 28 May (yes, just two weeks after the premiere). Brooke Shields herself, who leads the series, broke the news alongside her co-star Amalia Williamson in front of a delighted audience.

Season 2 will give us another six hour-long episodes, with filming scheduled to kick off later this year. The setting remains the not-at-all-suspiciously named Founder’s Cove in Maine—because of course the murder capital of streamed telly isn’t anywhere a real police force would want to live.

What’s the Show About?

If you’ve missed the buzz so far, here’s the gist: You’re Killing Me centres on Allie (Brooke Shields), a bestselling crime novelist who’s probably far more eager to solve actual murders than your average author. Her partner in sleuthing is Andi (Amalia Williamson), an up-and-coming true crime podcaster chasing her big break. They team up to investigate the death of a friend, and naturally, get tangled up in small-town drama—including clashing with the new detective in town, Jack (Tom Cavanagh). He’s meant to be laying low in Maine, but instead keeps tripping over corpses and meddlesome women with very sharp noses for trouble.

Who’s Behind It?

  • Created by: Robin Bernheim, who also executive produces
  • Executive Producers: Brooke Shields (who seems properly invested), Christina Jennings and Scott Garvie for Shaftesbury, Michael Volpe for Topsail, and Dan March for Dynamic Television

Dan McDermott from AMC, which owns Acorn TV, chimed in, calling the series a ‘breakout hit’ and sounding very pleased indeed to expand on this world for another round.

Key Cast

Alongside Shields and Williamson, Tom Cavanagh rounds out the main trio as Jack, the new-in-town detective. Judging by how quickly viewers have latched on, this is a trio that’s working.

A Note from Brooke Shields Herself

'I am crazy happy we get to do a second season of You’re Killing Me,' Shields said. 'I’m thrilled to be collaborating once again with the talented Robin Bernheim and having the opportunity to act opposite Amalia Williamson and Tom Cavanagh has been a dream. I promise we will continue to deliver the show you all fell in love with… even if it Kills Me.'

Release Plan

Season 1 isn’t even finished yet—the episodes are dropping every Monday, with the finale set for 22 June. So, if you’re just catching up, there’s still time to get on board before everyone’s speculating about next season’s inevitable body count.
