Pierce Brosnan has addressed the reported tensions around Tom Hardy’s MobLand stint — and his reaction, shared at a London Season 2 premiere, says plenty without saying much.

You may have seen the headlines moaning about supposed tension between Tom Hardy and the powers-that-be, with ex-Bond himself, Pierce Brosnan, caught up in the middle. Brosnan’s now had his say, and to be blunt, he’s not having any of it. Here’s what actually went down, minus the tabloid hand-wringing.
Brosnan Puts the Rumours to Bed
It all started with whispers about Hardy clashing with showrunner Jez Butterworth—something about Hardy’s timekeeping on set not quite meeting with universal approval. The reports then snowballed, painting production on MobLand as a hotbed of discontent. Brosnan, speaking at the London premiere of the show’s second season, made it pretty clear that the cast and crew are, in fact, not at each other’s throats.
Asked point blank by the Press Association how things really stood with Hardy, Brosnan didn’t mince words. Here’s what he said to Deadline about the so-called drama:
Oh my God, it was a storm in a teacup, really. I love the dude. I love Tom Hardy. I’m a massive fan of the man’s work. Truly.
If you’re after a bit more detail on the day-to-day, Brosnan went on to point out that the nature of filming meant there wasn’t loads of socialising off the clock, but it didn’t mean anyone harboured grudges. From his end at least, the job got done, and professionalism ruled the day—even if the wrap party didn’t take place down the local boozer. As he summed up: work happened, people showed up, and it moved quickly. Not a lot of time for post-shift pints, but a proper sense of “we’re all in this together”.
Hardy and the MobLand Team
Worth mentioning—Hardy himself isn’t the villain here. He’s sounded nothing but respectful about working alongside Brosnan and Helen Mirren. He described the pleasure of acting with them, and seeing old pros take on roles outside their comfort zone. As Hardy put it, watching them on set was "a beautiful thing".
With all that in mind, the supposed rift doesn’t seem to have affected the show’s future. Season 3 is already a lock at Paramount+, and the high-profile trio—Hardy, Brosnan, and Mirren—are all sticking around.
