A Jack Ryan star crashes into Landman season 3 — saddle up, Sheridan diehards

Here we go then — there’s always at least one power move in a Taylor Sheridan series, and this time it’s Landman (heading into its third season) grabbing Michael Kelly as a full-time cast member. If you’re a fan of premium-TV familiar faces, Kelly’s pretty much everywhere these days, from Jack Ryan to Lioness to that run on House of Cards. Not exactly one for sticking to just the little roles, either.

Michael Kelly joins Landman as a new series regular, portraying William Crockett: "the leader of the largest oil management firm in the world. He is a titan of industry, and everything about him exudes efficiency and money."

If you’re getting déjà vu, you’re not alone — sounds a bit like the Jon Hamm oil magnate from season one, except presumably this one survives until the credits roll (no promises, obviously, it’s Sheridan).

Kelly’s got a hefty CV by now: four-time Emmy nominee, plus stints in Black Mirror, Man of Steel, Now You See Me, and Everest, just for starters. He’s also mid-run on Lioness still, so clearly the only downtime he’s getting is between takes.

What’s Changing in Season 3

On the plot side, Landman is due for what co-creator Christian Wallace described as a “reset” back in January. If you watched the season two finale, you’ll know Tommy just launched his own operation — CTT Oil Exploration & Cattle. Forget sprawling corporations; now it’s a tight, family-run affair, almost starting from scratch, and Tommy’s dragging both T.L. and Cooper along for the ride. Means they’re out from under the shadow of the previous big bosses, but probably not out of the fire, so to speak.

In Wallace’s words to The Hollywood Reporter: "We have these characters entering into different dynamics with one another, and now we have T.L., Tommy, and Cooper all working at the same company, but not under the auspices of this larger corporation. It’s now family-run, very small, starting from almost scratch. That’s a whole new dynamic for them. Along with these other characters from M-Tex who are taking a pretty big gamble."

If you were hoping Tommy’s happy ending would stick, don’t get attached — Wallace’s hint is that calm won’t last long. Landman isn’t known for letting anyone stay happy too long, frankly.

As for timing, don’t expect to mark this one in your calendar just yet. Paramount+ hasn’t pinned down a premiere; the word on the street is late 2027 at the earliest.

Season 3 of Landman is unlikely to land before late 2027.
